Challenge

The Houston Airport Systems (HAS) was seeking a qualified contractor to assume all facility operations of the Mechanical Systems, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Systems and Central Plants Operations for the its three airport operations listed above(Bush Intercontinental, Hobby, and Ellington Field) on an always-open basis ( 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year) basis.

Solution

Comfort Systems USA developed a team of very talented subcontractors, submitted pricing budgets and organizational methodology to HAS, and was awarded the project. With five weeks’ notice, Comfort Systems USA South Central staffed the 40+ positions and assumed operations. HAS stated that the transition was the smoothest that they had ever witnessed. Comfort Systems USA reduced the average response time from 58 minutes to 23 minutes, and improved overall customer satisfaction from 73% to 97%, in the first 18 months of the project. The city of Houston requested a goal of 18% minority participation. Our team has successfully implemented the project with a minority participation averaging 25.7%.
