Challenge

ColonialWebb began preventive maintenance on the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail in August, 2010. When the service company developed a firm understanding of the facility, they recognized that normal preventive maintenance hours would not correct the Jail’s failing facility controls system. Prior to ColonialWebb’s presence at the jail, the installed JCI system was left unattended and subsequently had things disconnected, bad sensors, bypassed on equipment not functioning, as well as a full range of other issues.

Solution

After sitting down with ColonialWebb, the Regional Jail decided to have the service company retro commission all the controls at the facility to ensure their system would begin working effectively and efficiently, thereby reducing their energy costs.

A Closer Look

The retro commissioning process is currently underway, but already personnel at the Jail are recognizing the benefits of retro commissioning and ColonialWebb’s preventive maintenance plan.

“(ColonialWebb) took over the air conditioning, heating & control system back in August. Upon the initial phase of the retro commissioning process of our controls, we are able to see and feel a difference quickly. Thereafter, we look forward to continue working with …. folks at ColonialWebb.”
